My Voice staff have worked alongside people with disability to overcome barriers and limitations. Working with First Nations people with disability who have been involved in the justice system. Our Home and Community team has helped a number of people with disabilities to be diverted from contact with the criminal justice system through the delivery of quality, person centred care and support. A major achievement in the NT has been to facilitate the successful transition to community of a person who was being held indefinite detention as a result of their disability. We are proud to do this work in partnership with First Nations people of the Central Desert. Creating true inclusion and community participation in the middle of Sydney For a group of people with diverse needs My Voice has enabled true local community integration. Close to community shops, transport and medical facilities, clients have rich lives that are part of the local fabric. We co-design supports with clients and their loved ones and work hard to make each service delivery unique and reflective of individual lives. Building Skill and Resilience Our clinical team takes a wholistic and multidisciplinary approach to building the skills and capabilities of people with communication and behavioural challenges. Understanding the impacts of their disabilities, their family environment, past trauma and associated social dynamics, we work with many clients to successfully reduce or eliminate behaviours of concern. We help build communication skills to develop a range of other life skills including budgeting, daily life skills, problem solving and strategies to regulate emotions that help improve interpersonal relationships. Trusted relationships My Voice has built several models of care that have stood the test of time, and we have advocated where necessary to support people in crises situations to get the mainstream help, they are entitled to. We still support many of the people who started with us seven years ago having built long term relationships of trust and care. Our plan managers, specialist support coordinators and support coordinators continue to support and assist our clients to understand their NDIS plan funding and how they can use their budgets to choose quality providers. Our 2022 Audit Report describes My Voice as - Having 'walked the talk' - Bringing 'flexibility and responsiveness' - Being 'overwhelmingly positive' - and 'they go out of their way to help' - 'a well-governed and well-managed organisation with a sound base for quality service provision'.
