Personal Care Support

What is Personal Care?

Personal care under the NDIS is funded as a Core Support, specifically under the ‘Assistance with Daily Life’ category and refers to hands-on assistance or supervision with daily living activities that a person cannot manage independently. It is a support service delivered by trained support workers in a participant's home or community.

Why is it important.
• Skill Building - focusing on helping people to do things themselves.
• Maintaining Preferred Daily Routines – An individual can choose how and when they receive support, allowing them to maintain their preferred routines and lifestyle.
• Respectful Support: Trained workers provide assistance with intimate tasks in a way that prioritises privacy, empathy, and respect.
• Confidence Boost: Feeling clean, well-groomed, and dressed appropriately improves a person's mood, outlook, and self-confidence.
• Social Readiness: Meeting basic personal needs allows individuals to engage more confidently in community activities, work, or social events.
