What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)? Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) refers to housing that is purpose-built or specially modified for people with high support needs or extreme functional impairment. These homes are designed to improve accessibility, safety, and independence.SDA focuses on the physical environment such as wider doorways, accessible bathrooms, assistive technology, or robust design features while SIL focuses on the support services you receive within the home.Not everyone is eligible for SDA, as it is funded under specific criteria, but for those who qualify, it can significantly enhance comfort, independence, and quality of life. In simple terms, SIL is the support you receive while SDA is the home you live in, (if eligible).
